One of our investigators was taking pictures of the lanterns set out around the Fort. Careful to make sure no one would get in the shot, he made sure no one was around when shooting. There were not many people around yet as the tours hadn’t started. With 2 second timer and a 1/8 second shutter speed, it would have been impossible for anyone to get into the shot unnoticed. The funny thing is that the figure in the background wasn’t even noticed for 2 years.
Captured by Susan Boag during the Diamond State Ghost Investigators Paranormal Adventure Tour at Fort Delaware State Park, these images were taken on 10/25/2025 while seated in the prisoner barracks during the extended tour. Susan captured a series of photos, and we have selected two from the sequence to share.
In the first photo (on the left), the doorway appears completely empty. In the second photo, taken immediately after the first, an unexplainable shadow figure can be seen standing in the doorway. A third photo was taken shortly after, showing the doorway once again empty and identical to the first image.
Upon reviewing the images, Sue immediately noticed the anomaly and made the President of DSGI aware. At the time, no one present was able to debunk the shadow figure or provide any alternate explanation for its appearance.
